Kidney Failure: What Are Your Options?
Her doctor told her the fearful news: “Your kidneys are failing!”
Five months earlier, Maggie didn’t know what to do to heal her kidneys. As time went on, her kidney health worsened. No prescriptions the doctors gave her and nothing they advised her to do seemed to help reverse her kidney disease.
At her last appointment, her doctor told her: “Your time is running out… soon your kidneys will require dialysis treatments”.
She realized that she was facing kidney failure and was destined to experience the horrors of kidney dialysis. It didn’t seem as if there was anything she could do to avoid it. But how would she tolerate being “chained” to a dialysis machine for the rest of her life? Where would she find the money to pay for acute renal failure treatments? Such thoughts gave her sleepless nights…
The constant fog in her brain continued, along with headaches, fatigue, swelling, moodiness, loss of appetite and depression. Her blood pressure continued its upward spiral – although she was still taking her high blood pressure medication!
Common Symptoms of Kidney Disease
She kept suffering these worsening symptoms:
- Swelling in her ankles and lower legs;
- Nausea and vomiting and constantly-upset stomach;
- Puffiness around the eyes;
- Brain fog and moodiness;
- Passing only small amounts of urine, with stopping and starting while urinating;
- Shortness of breath when exerting herself;
- Loss of appetite;
- Bouts of depression and anxiety;
- Increasing blood pressure;
- Muscle cramps, especially in her legs.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it might be a sign of early kidney disease.
A major problem is that most people do not have major symptoms; sometimes they simply accept them as a “sign of aging”. They don’t realize their kidneys are failing until it’s too late and they have stage 3 or stage 4 kidney disease!
Urine and blood tests can help reveal signs of early kidney disease and monitor the condition. If you suspect you might have problems with your kidneys, go and get yourself tested. Your doctor can check your blood pressure and the levels of albumin or protein in your urine.
Creatinine Levels in Kidney Failure
When your kidneys become damaged and lose proper function, they develop little holes which allow these proteins to leak through into the urine. Your doctor may then perform tests to check your glomerular filtration rate (GFR). This test will tell how much creatinine is in your blood.
Creatinine is a breakdown product of creatine phosphate in muscle; doctors consider a score of 90 or above to be normal. However, a score 15 or lower would indicate that you have kidney damage that requires either dialysis or a kidney transplant.
Your doctor may refer you to a nephrologist (kidney expert) if your tests are “abnormal”. The nephrologist might perform a biopsy (takes a kidney tissue sample) to determine the cause and extent of kidney damage.
What Causes Kidneys to Fail?
There are many possible causes of kidney failure. You might have diabetes and/or hypertension or some other health disorder which causes your kidneys to stop functioning correctly. There are many treatments available to help reverse kidney disease.
What Are the Usual Treatments for Kidney Disease?
Pharmaceutical drugs, especially those that people use to control high blood pressure and diabetes, can sometimes help to slow down the progress of chronic kidney disease. Resolving high blood sugar or hypertension may improve the sudden loss of kidney function. However, if your case is severe and your kidneys no longer function, your only options would be dialysis or a kidney transplant.
How Can You Avoid Dialysis or a Kidney Transplant?
Around the time that Maggie heard her time was running out, a friend of hers told her about a website where he had found help for his mother. She had been going through the same torments as Maggie with failing kidneys.
What that website revealed seemed too good to be true.
How could taking simple supplements and changing her diet help heal her kidneys after all her doctor’s suggestions had got her nowhere? All she could do was try it and see if it worked. After all, she was scheduled to start her dialysis treatments in less than two months…
Here’s where the story becomes a little strange…
Two months later, instead of sliding down the slippery slope of kidney failure and becoming progressively worse… Maggie’s kidneys were starting to get better!
That was stunning! When she next visited her doctor for kidney scans and blood tests, she discovered that her kidney failure was reversing!
The doctor could not believe how much her kidneys had improved. Her renal output had increased and her GTF (generalized transfer function) had risen! Her kidneys had started working again and were removing the toxins from her body!
She no longer had to face all the health problems dialysis would cause, the significant pain, possible blood clots and stroke, cancer risks – not to mention the lifestyle changes she would have to make to stay alive…
Now she is using the all-natural protocol that restored her kidney function and gave her life back. And she did it all naturally, without using toxic medications or dialysis! In less than two months her kidneys were on the mend.
Now, six months later… her kidneys are back to normal again!
